Inspire Girls - August Workshop (Life Skills & Leaving Care)

Inspiring Hope is excited to launch day workshops for teenage girls who are in the transition of leaving care.

Many of the teen girls who have attended our various programs over the past few years, have expressed that the transition from leaving care into independent living is an area of deep concern & anxiety for them. The many unique challenges that these teen girls face, has led Inspiring Hope to create a boutique and specialised series of workshops that provide emotional and practical support to assist these teen girls in engaging and navigating these unique and necessary transitions during this season of their lives.

Our leaving care day workshops not only create a sense of community and stability, they build and develop critical life skills as well as providing practical & personal development tools to take into independent living. Our Inspiring Hope team takes the time to build a rapport when engaging with each participant. Providing the support, they need for them to feel secure and engage with the outcomes of the program.

Our Leaving Care workshops focus on developing skills in the following 10 key areas.

Inspiring Hope’s Leaving Care Workshop Areas of Development:

  1. Placement and permeance / living skills for home life

  2. Personal identity and culture / personal strengths, talents, and goals

  3. Family & significant relationships / boundaries and healthy dynamics

  4. Health / wellbeing: assist participants to build an understanding of their health and wellbeing, personal hygiene, and daily living skills.

  5. Educational / vocational training & workplace: Developing skills for employment and job interviews. Understanding the importance of professionalism during work and study.

  6. Supporting participants in further education and motivation towards study, work, and personal commitments.

  7. Social/ living skills & peer relationships: Personal and social development, teaching participants how to engage with healthy friendships, relationships and identifying negative ones.

  8. Emotional / behaviour development

  9. Legal issues / care matters: Support them in developing an understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities.

  10. Planned financial: Budgeting and understanding their responsibility financially and legally particularly with renting and contracts.

Programs desired outcomes: This program works in conjunction with all existing services, such as counsellors and psychologists, by offering individualised content in alignment with the participants support goals. We work closely with the case managers and case workers to ensure that the outcomes for the participant are being met.

We are only opening 10 places for these unique workshops, so we can give personalised and unique care to each delegate attending.

I would welcome the opportunity to chat with you further with any questions or clarifications you may have.
